VPR.net Archive

Sep 30, 2012

On April 15, 2013 we launched a new VPR.net. Much of the program content from the past 6 months, along with several weeks of news, migrated to the new site. The remaining news, program, and playlist content is still available in our archive.

If you're looking for something, try the site Search: it searches across the current site and the archives.

To explore the archive, visit www.vpr.net/archive.

This Friday evening, the Brentano String Quartet performs a fascinating program at Darmouth College, in which contemporary composers wrote companion pieces to unfinished "fragments" of pieces by classical composers.  I spoke with violinist Mark Steinberg of the Brentano quartet about the program, and we'll hear that conversation this afternoon.

Information about the performance at Darmouth can be found here.

Tuesday evening at FlynnSpace, the long-time violinist of the Guarneri Quartet, Arnold Steinhardt, will talk about and play Bach's Solo Violin Partita in D minor, which includes the famous Chaconne.  It's part of the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival and we'll get a preview this morning at 11 when he visits VPR's Walter Parker.

Peter and the Wolf

Sep 20, 2012

This weekend Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf will be performed in Brattleboro and Bellows Falls by the UConn Puppet Arts Program with narration by Tony Barrand and live music by the Hugh Keelan Ensemble.

We'll listen to it today narrated by the rock star Sting.
