Well, it's official. The NY Yankees are now the best team in baseball.

The two best teams in the American League east now have identical records atop the division, and if you had to rank one above the other before game two of the series tonight, the edge would have to go to the NY Yankees.

The season has ended for the Boston Bruins, knocked out of the NHL playoffs  yesterday with a 3-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning  and once again Boston was unable to get any kind of offense going during five on five play.

The University of Vermont men's lacrosse team is heading for the America East championship for the second time in three years after an 8-4 win over Stony Brook yesterday.

Mookie Betts had sat out the last three Red Sox games with a sore hamstring. Yesterday, he returned to the line-up and hit a home run for each game he'd missed.

Baseball can be a humbling game, even for its best participants, and one of those, Boston Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel admitted as much when he gave up a game-tying home run in the 9th inning against the Kansas City Royals last night in a game the Red Sox would ultimately lose in 13 frames.

April has come to an end, and with all due respect to T.S. Eliot, it was hardly the cruelest month for the Boston Red Sox.

It's sort of curious that many fans of the team with the best record in the majors felt that the Boston Red Sox got a much-needed win at Fenway Park yesterday.

Just like their hockey counterparts, the Boston Celtics will need to win a game seven at home if they want to advance beyond the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Celts couldn't put the Milwaukee Bucks away in game six last night, losing 97-86 in large part because Milwaukee superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The head coach of the University of Vermont women's basketball team has resigned.

The Boston Bruins were back in familiar territory, trailing at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third period of a winner take all game seven playoff.

Boston's "Yawkey Way" will be renamed "Jersey Street."

The Boston Red Sox have won their bid to change the name of the tiny, two-block street outside Fenway Park. Team owners say the change is needed to distance themselves from a history marred by racism under the late, former owner Tom Yawkey, who was known for his philanthropy, but also for his historically racist ball club.

The Boston Public Improvement Commission voted unanimously Thursday to approve the name change.

The Boston Red Sox clawed their way back from a three run deficit against the Toronto Blue Jays, tying the game with a rally in the 9th, but suffered their third loss in a row in extra innings thanks to the arm and the bat of one player.

Let's agree that as amazing and historic as the best ever start in Boston Red Sox franchise history has been, the pace it set was not sustainable. And so it was that the Red Sox suffered their second loss in a row and dropped their first series of the year with a 4-1 defeat in Oakland against the A's yesterday afternoon.

He announced for the Patriots for 36 years.

In a statement, Patriots chairman and CEO Robert Kraft said he was “deeply saddened” by the loss.

It was a nasty day to run 26.2 miles through Boston. But American Desiree Linden pushed her way through a powerful headwind and cold rain and up Heartbreak Hill to triumph at the Boston Marathon — the first time a U.S. woman has won in 33 years.

In Toronto last night the Maple Leafs hit a milestone, recording the team's 46th win of the season in a 4-3 victory over the Florida Panthers, and in doing so setting a franchise high mark for most regular season wins.

The Boston Bruins picked up a point in a 5-4 overtime shootout round defeat to the Jets in Winnipeg last night, but the team could be facing a far greater loss.

The women's bracket of the NCAA basketball tournament has been whittled down to the Final Four and with UConn included in that quartet, the Huskies now hold the record for most appearances in an NCAA semi-final at 19, one more than Tennessee.
