The cost of electronic cigarettes in Vermont will nearly double if House lawmakers get their way, and legislators say the plan will raise needed revenue and curb health care costs.


The Northeast Kingdom is about to get its first electronic cigarette store.  Lyndonville will follow a trail blazed in Castleton, where there is a business that sells the vaporizers, and makes the liquid ingredients. E-cigs are also being sold in convenience stores. But even as businesses latch onto the trend, the state is calling for more regulation.

The Town of Sharon revised its Tobacco Use Policy this month. Many towns have tobacco policies, which regulate the use of tobacco by town employees while on the job. Some policies also lay down rules for tobacco use on town-owned properties. And the State of Vermont has several smoke-free laws on the books.
