Kelly Therieux and Steve Lloyd both urged VPR listeners not to miss holiday shopping in the most local of ways at this sale, held in a Victorian home in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Thatcher Brook School's art teacher, MK Monley In Waterbury, Vermont, called the VPR Art Hounds hotline to recommend an event put together by Representative Tom Stevens.

Local artists' works will be on display in the Vermont State Hospital, damaged and rendered unusable by Tropical Storm Irene.

Ted Schiffman in Haverhill, New Hampshire called the Art Hounds hotline to recommend two upcoming shows.

Canadian singer/songwriter James Keelaghan appears at Court Street Arts in Haverhill on Saturday, September 15th and singer Michelle Shocked brings her "Roccupy America" tour to Alumni Hall at Court Street Arts on Thursday, September 27th.

Janet Cobb from Norwich called about Windsor artist Carol Santa Maria's exhibit, "Painting the Wind," in Lyme, New Hampshire.

Paedra Peter Bramhall

Artist Peggy Kannenstine suggested an exhibit by Vermont painter, Paedra Peter Bramhall. The works, on display now at Maison Kasini in Montreal, Quebec, touch on some potentially uncomfortable themes.
 
From Bramhall's exhibit page: "There is a place for beautiful, soothing art. There is a place for art which jogs the mind of the viewer and produces questions and questioning."

Woodstock resident and artist, Carla Munsat called the VPR Art Hounds hotline to suggest listeners go see Barbara Bartlett's new works on display at the AVA Gallery in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

The exhibit is called, The Art of Tea, and features ordinary tea bags used in extraordinary ways.

Nature

Tara O'Reilly suggested, "In Our Nature," an exhibition of 11 regional and local artists in a barn at Comfort Farm in Stowe. The show, which runs through October 14th, includes paintings, sculpture and photography. The barn itself is the ideal backdrop on which to showcase these nature-inspired works, which runs through Sunday, October 14th.

Steven Dear, interim head-of-school at Long Trail School in Dorset, Vermont, called the VPR Art Hounds hotline to recommend the works of Vermont plein air painter George Van Hook.

Van Hook, whose works are in the Impressionistic style, has been painting through the seasons at Merck Forest and Farmland Center in Rupert, Vermont, and will show his 16 works at an open house this weekend.
