The Legend Of Susie Wilson

Mary Jane Krebser

In Chittenden County, there is a main thoroughfare that commuters through Essex know well.

Susie Wilson Road is only about a mile-and-half long. But the lore that surrounds this stretch of asphalt is disproportionate to its length. The stories of Susie Wilson date back to the early 1900s, and include questions of loose morals and several marriages.

But rumors are just rumors, and so a history researcher in Essex wanted to research the topic to prove or disprove the myths that surround Susie Wilson.

Jerry Fox recently sat down with Vermont Edition to discuss what he uncovered.

Ric was a producer for Vermont Edition and host of the VPR Cafe.
